At the Creek

A spring fed creek flows patiently through a dark, wooded ravine. As it passes under a bridge into the light of day, you can hear it start to sing. The sunlight is creating a smile as the song descends into a shallow pool. The gentleness of the flow left a quietness of time, until the shallow, slippery shale stone changed the rhyme and the melody.

Stretched out on my back, in the sun and water, wow, this is nice. The flow is gently carrying me down the slippery stone to the darker water. Let us do that again, and again all of our summers. Mama said, You kids are having so much fun, it must be sinful.

Summer must be rapidly drying the creek because I seem to be more exposed. I’m starting to enjoy the darker water. Maybe I will go down to the river tomorrow.

Wonder how deep I can go and enjoy it?

A resounding “No” was heard from Mama.

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not whither he goes.
